Dear Diary,
I sharply close my eyes and proceed blowing out the eighteen candles standing on my birthday cake. I grip the table and and listen to the audience cry 'make a wish! make a wish!'. I listen to them; however I am one step ahead of them--this is the time of the year I look forward to, my moment. I do not anticipate my birthday for the common birthday gifts or attention; I look forward to this moment-the moment of wishing.
Yes, yes! I know revealing my secret breaks every rule in the 'Guide to having your wish granted' book, but I have been reciting the same wish for every birthday and have, unfortunately, seen no progress. My wish, *cringe* is superpowers. Yes, a seventeen year old high schooler living the same dream as an eight year old boy. I am not simply wishing magical powers for myself; I am wishing to live in a world filled with powers! In lieu of education would be classes on powers--similar to a Hogwarts.
Don't get confused, I am surely, definitely, positively NOT a Harry Potter fan; though, I certainly would incorporate that idea into my fictional world. I want a world where people have unique powers- each born with a different power.
I suppose this desire roots from the Anime I continue to watch at age 17. I do not consider this particular interest odd or weird: I know plenty of people with similar desires, yet many will NEVER admit to those desires.
To be honest, I would be satisfied with a Pokemon or Yugioh setting where I, myself, don't posses actual powers. I suppose I simply would like to 'get better'. I know the simplistic world we live in today offers many opportunities to 'get better', but for some reason I think I would have a natural inclination for these supernatural powers.
